4th of July
We always go to my parents and do a great beach day with Jordan and Jenn for the 4th. Well this year we wanted to take Miles to the beach and partake in our usual festivities but it was cold and sand plus a one month old just didn't sound as fun. We still all gathered for the festivities we just stayed more indoors. Todd and I did manage a beach walk though. It was great to have Miles meet more family and friends and enjoy a day eating and being with family.

Miles makes us smile
Some of the simplest things he does makes us laugh and our hearts swell. Because he is such a good sleeper we have had to sometimes wake him up to feed. It is quite an ordeal and he really struggles to stretch and open his eyes. It's pretty adorable. I wanted to catch those big stretches and yawns on film so we can remember why we lovingly refer to him as "dinosaur baby". His little noises make us think of a baby dinosaur.
Father's Day
Father's Day was extra special this year with the little man newly here. We went to my parents house for breakfast. Mom and I made Grandpa Lara, my dad and Todd all a very hearty delightful breakfast! YUM! Todd got some much needed rest and Miles and his Poppa (my dad) got to have some good conversation. Miles loves to be talked to and though he may not have much now to offer back in response we are just waiting for him to answer us. It always look like there is something on the tip of his tongue ready to come out from those perfect little lips! It was a relaxing day spent eating sushi (finally), a little gardening and some much deserved nap time...see photo of Todd :)

Hospital Stay
While we all recovered from the amazing delivery we were lucky enough to have a lot of family and close friends come to visit and meet Miles. It sure was great to see so many happy and loving faces!
Poor Todd had to sleep on the loudest and shortest little bed...his sleeping arrangements for a few nights.
First days home
We came home on Sunday and I have never been so happy to be home! After a very safe drive from a very concentrated new dad we arrived home and were so excited to show Miles his new digs outside the womb.
We had amazing sweet friends bringing us dinner for the next week and lots of Miles' friends were able to come over and meet him. What a special time to see all of the love and support from family and friends that have been awaiting his arrival as much as we had.
Thank you to everyone for all of the yummy food and love! xoxo

Miles Luca Gray
Miles Luca was born at 7:59am Friday June 11th, 2010 at Scripps Memorial La Jolla, same hospital that I was born at. He weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz and was 20.5 inches long. He came out wailing and had a full head of dark hair. His feet and hands are definitely Todd's along with his sweet nose. He is magnificent!
I was supposed to be induced on Friday morning at 7am. Miles being the little gentleman that he is decided to arrive on his own time and contractions started at about 6pm on Thursday night. After about 4 hours of contractions per Todd's advise I decided to take a shower. My water broke conveniently in the shower and after that things really escalated. Contractions went to 5 minutes and once we were in the car and driving to the hospital they were 3 minutes apart. When we arrived I was dilated to a 4 and was able to get an epidural.
Labor was quiet and overall very pleasant thanks to that epidural. My mom arrived at the hospital at about midnight and we all tried to rest until it was time to get things going. By about 6:45 I was fully dilated and my ob came on at 7 for her shift. She told me she thought I could have this baby in an hour. Miles was born 59 minutes later.
He is absolutely breathtaking and perfect. We are over the moon that he has arrived and is healthy and happy. We are now a family of 3 and life is pretty sweet!

Mother's Day 2010
We had a very quiet and low key Mother's Day this year with my parents at Paon in Carlsbad. We had a long and slow lunch full of delicious salads, entrees, dessert and coffee to boot! I almost had to be rolled out of the restaurant. Everything was amazing. I love a long dining experience and this did not disappoint. I wanted to take photos of my food but thought i should refrain, however the brownie I had for dessert sitting in caramel which I ate almost completely on my own is still fresh in my memory. I made sure to taste everyone's before I even put a fork to mine. We then sat in mom and dad's backyard and just enjoyed the beautiful day. It was a great Mother's Day and I look forward to many more!
